Project Tell Taylor

Michelle Madow's debut novel Remembrance was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. She talked all about it in a blog entry a few months ago, discussing how Remembrance was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. She even wrote a letter to Taylor Swift and sent it to her, along with a signed book!

It's been a few months now, and she has yet to hear back from Taylor that she received the letter and book. She really wants to tell Taylor about how inspiring she and her music have been to her, but since Taylor Swift is an international superstar, she’s a little hard to reach. This is where YOUR help comes into play! Michelle is giving away the biggest prize pack she's offered yet, and the ways to enter to win are by telling Taylor Swift about Remembrance.

The Goal: Get Taylor Swift to Tweet about Remembrance!

Hallowed Review

Rating: ♥♥♥♥

For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

SO heart-wrenchingly, tear-jerkingly, beautiful! A few things happen in this sequel to Unearthly. Clara has to make a choice between Tucker and Christian, I started out as Team Tucker (totally sweet, gentle farm boy), and by the end of the book, I became Team Christian. He's just a better fir for her, they're both angels, etc. A loved one dies, but Cynthia Hand makes it so beautiful and graceful (much as you can, when someone dies), secrets, questions and loose ends are tied up, and discovered. A few new characters are introduced to us, and one is not so new, but totally unexpected. We're also shown a bit of a different side of Samjeeza, the black wing, and Jeffery as well.

Clara grows up a lot, and finds out who she truly is. She has to choose between Tucker and Christian, but really, it's not much of a choice, it's more following of her destiny than anything else. I was not at all surprised by the choice she made.

I absolutely loved Hallowed, but it didn't quite have as much magic as Unearthly did. You will not be able to help but cry though, I teared up so many times, some of the moments are so powerful. I especially loved Angela's Grad speech at the end, very powerful and amazing. I love the way Hallowed ended, so touching and beautiful.

Hey guys! Sry I've been so MIA this last week or 2! I've been pretty busy, between work and everything else. *Insert sad face* So, to try and make up for it, I've got a new cover reveal and some other stuff all in one post! I am also going to be doing a post tomorrow about Project Tell Taylor, which is being hosted by Michelle Meadow and which I'm really excited about!

I'm almost finished reading Hallowed by Cynthia Hand, so I will have the review up either later today or tomorrow.

As for the In My Mailbox, I don't have a picture yet, but I did pick up Dreaming Awake by Gwen Hayes (Cannot wait to start this one, been waiting ever since Falling Under came out last year!) and Switched by Amanda Hocking.

Might I add it's also PERFECT reading weather (When I'm not watching my Private Practice dvds...) :) We've been getting a huge dump of snow since last night, and we're still getting it! It's snowing like mad outside, so I've got my book, a cup of tea and my fav blankie :)

Bloodrose Review

Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Add To Goodreads

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there’s more at stake than fighting. There’s saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay’s wrath. There’s keeping Ansel safe, even if he’s been branded a traitor. There’s proving herself as the pack’s alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers’ magic once and for all. And then there’s deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is.

Amazing ending to an amazing trilogy! So many people said the ending was shocking, and I thought I was prepared, but what happens in the last few chapters, I really didn't expect. I even cried a little!! Bloodrose is really an amazing read, it has action, love, twists and turns and lots of choices have to be made. The whole book was very well written and everything flowed really well, from chapter to chapter, there was never a disappointing or dull moment.

So many things happened, that it's a bit hard not to give anything away! Some things were shocking, while some were kind of predictable, but still made the book good. I love who Calla ends up with in the end, even with how the choice was made. The ending of Bloodrose really makes me wonder what Andrea Cremer has in-store for the prequel to this series, Rift. From the epilogue of Bloodrose, I wonder if it will be that character's adventure? Or somehow gets tied into it?  (Anyone that has read Bloodrose knows who I'm talking about! :) ) I highly recommend this book, and even this trilogy!

Quote from Bloodrose

Credit for this photo goes to the artist who made it
"The moon was gone now, covered by thick bands of clouds. As tiny silver flakes drifted down to settle on our bodies-both the living and the dead-I thought perhaps the moon had hidden her face from us, as full of sorrow as we were. But she couldn't stop her tears from spilling in the form of silent snow."~Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer ♥

Released in Canada and US Today!!!

Described by Richelle Mead as “utterly captivating,” Unearthly received outstanding reviews, garnered accolades from New York Times bestselling authors, and was named an Indie Next Pick. In this heart-wrenching sequel, Cynthia Hand expertly captures the all-consuming joy of first love—and the agony of loss. This beautifully woven tale will appeal to fans of Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpatrick, and Aprilynne Pike.

Angel Burn Review

Rating: ♥♥♥

They're out for your soul.
And they don't have heaven in mind...

Willow knows she's different from other girls, and not just because she loves tinkering with cars. Willow has a gift. She can look into the future and know people's dreams and hopes, their sorrows and regrets, just by touching them. she has no idea where this power comes from. But the assassin, Alex, does. Gorgeous, mysterious Alex knows more about Willow than Willow herself does. He knows that her powers link to dark and dangerous forces and that he's one of the few humans left who can fight them. When Alex finds himself falling in love with his sworn enemy, he discovers that nothing is as it seems, least of all good and evil.

Angel Burn has a lot of action and things going on. I couldn't quite get into it the way I hoped to though. Instead of just sticking to one or two POVs, there were 4, and it switched every few chapters, and it was kind of hard to go back to one character after reading about the other 2 or 3. I wish it had just stuck to Willow.

Willow is the main character in the book, she's have angel, half human and has the ability to destroy the angels that are taking over the "human's world". She's a kick ass character with some actual smarts and doesn't drive you up the wall.

There are a few twists and turns, just enough to keep you guessing, and the pace is pretty good, although, there were some slow parts that had a hard time holding my attention. Overall, the book is good but could be a little better. I look forward to reading the sequel, Angel Fire.
