Touch Of Power Review

Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.
Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life...

I was attached to this book from beginning to end! It was kind of surprising, I had tried reading Maria's Poison Study a long time ago, but could never really get into it, so I was really unsure about this novel but thought I'd give it a whirl anyway. Seriously, best book EVER! Well, least that I've read lately! This book was such an adventure, there's always something going on or happening.

Avry is one of my most favorite characters, she never complains, even when she's close to dieing. She cried a few times but I cried right along with her! She starts off on her own, running for her life, healing children and babies when she can. Then she gets caught by the people and is to be executed the next day. This and a few other things all happen within the first chapter! Right away it's a whirlwind all in itself. The rest of the book never slows down, it was such a ride, I loved every minute of it. I especially loved how Kerrick started out as a cranky, no-fun, stick-in-the-mud, then slowly turns around and there may or may not be a little somethin' between Kerrick and Avry. This book is definitely at the top of my fav book list, for sure.
