Past Midnight Review

Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Let me set the record straight. My name is Charlotte Silver and I'm not one of those paranormal-obsessed freaks you see on TV…no, those would be my parents, who have their own ghost-hunting reality show. And while I'm usually roped into the behind-the-scenes work, it turns out that I haven't gone unnoticed. Something happened on my parents' research trip in Charleston—and now I'm being stalked by some truly frightening other beings. Trying to fit into a new school and keeping my parents' creepy occupation a secret from my friends—and potential boyfriends—is hard enough without having angry spirits whispering in my ear.

All I ever wanted was to be normal, but with ghosts of my past and present colliding, now I just want to make it out of high school alive….

Past Midnight by Mara Purnhagen is everything you'd want for a ghost story! I never wanted to put it down (unfortunately this was not possible, for I had to work lol). Some of it it kind of predictable and really easy to guess what's gonna happen next, but other times it was harder to guess. It really had that creepy-ghost-telling feeling to it, I really enjoyed reading it, I love reading about the paranormal and supernatural. The book starts out with Charlotte moving to a new town (again) and her and her sister Annalise, try to help their parents by contacting a ghost or two in this old, haunted cafe. That's when strange things slowly start happening. What I really liked about this novel, was that it wasn't just about the whole ghost/haunting thing. It's also about Charlotte and her new friends and a dark secret everyone seems to know but her, until she finds out for herself. If your looking for a good ghost series, this is definitely one you should try. Nothing beats Meg Cabot's 'Mediator' series though! But this series is the runner up.
